Holy crap, I have stocks + shares (I think…)

After being quite coy about not getting into the hype of the financial mess and the state of the stock market given I have nothing invested, I got a couple of letters through the mail today regarding my State of Alaska PERS scheme. It’s a pretty sweet deal with regards to the matched retirement contributions provided by the employer. Anyways, I’ve read a couple of personal finance blogs for a year or so now like The Simple Dollar and Get Rich Slowly which has kinda come in helpful by at least allowing me to understand what the hell the latest statement means in the sense of now having shares in the S&P 500 index fund and T. Rowe Price small cap stock trust amongst others. Well, at least I understand they’re generally fairly stable under more regular market conditions… Right now, probably not so much. Maybe I need to start paying a little more attention to them weird graph things!
